As a part of their active lifestyle in a diverse environment, performance and sale animals can encounter many hazards that threaten their life and health. Protect your investment with Mortality Coverage, optional Medical or Loss of Use, and Transit coverage.
Mortality Coverage Overview
Full Mortality: Coverage for Death on a broad perils basis, including accident, injury, sickness and disease. Theft is also covered. Full Mortality also provides up to $3,000 for emergency colic surgery as long as the horse has no history of colic. A variety of optional coverages are available for Horses with Full Mortality Coverage. Those are listed below in the red section.
Eligibility
Animals used for pleasure, show, performance, breeding, dairy, club or other purposes are eligible for Animal Mortality Coverage.
Horse Rate Categories
For horses between 24 hours and 2 years.
$4 - $7.25 per hundred dollars of coverage.
For horses aged 2 to 14 years. These rates increase as the horse ages over 14 years.
$3.25 per hundred dollars of coverage for all of the following:
- Barrel Racing/Pole Bending
- Performance - used in competitive exhibitions of moderate athletic level, such a roping, reining, hunting or steer wrestling.
- Pleasure - horses kept for private, non-competitive riding.
- Ranch/Work - horses used on a ranch.
- Roping - horses used in a sport where the roping horse and its rider capture cattle or other horses with a lasso.
$7.25 per hundred dollars of coverage for bares and broncs:
- Rodeo - means rodeo stock, such as bucking horses, used in competitive events of high athletic level or hazardous nature.
Cattle Rates
Rate is per head and per hundred dollars of coverage. Prices decrease as the number of head increases.
- Breeding or Show: $6.50
- Dairy: $7.00
- 4/H or FFA: $6.50
- Rodeo cattle: $7.25
- Bucking Bull: $5.25
Dog Rates
Rate is per hundred dollars of coverage.
- Male or Neutered Dog - including theft: $7.00
- Femail Dog - including theft and Breeding coverage: $9.00
Other Livestock Rates
Rate is per head and per hundred dollars of coverage. Prices decrease as the number of head increases.
- Bison: $6.50
- Elk: $6.50
- Camelid: $7.00
- Pigs, Sheep, Goats: $12.00
Single Trip Transit
A single Trip Transit Animal Mortality policy may cover animals in the course of transit on a single trip basis.
Optional Endorsements Overview
There are a wide range of options allowing you to customize your
high-value animal's insurance coverage to fit your needs.
Loss of Use
Provides coverage for Horses, Cattle or Dogs that become unfit for its first use specified in the policy due to a covered accident, injury, sickness, or disease. A limited loss of use option covering only accident or injury is also available. Each option is a selectable endorsement to the animal mortality coverage and an additional premium does apply.
Major Medical Expense
Provides coverage for veterinary medical and surgical expenses incurred for a covered animal as a result of a covered accident, injury, sickness, or disease. It is a selectable endorsement to the equine animal mortality coverage. $5,000, $7,500, $10,000 or $15,000 limit of insurance options are available, and an additional premium does apply.
Accident, Sickness and Disease Coverage
Provides coverage for a covered stallion that becomes incapable of stud service due to a covered infertility, impotence, accident, injury, sickness, or disease. It is a selectable endorsement to the equine animal mortality coverage and an additional premium does apply.
Emergency Colic Surgery Expense Coverage
Provides coverage for emergency colic surgery expenses at no additional premium. It is a standard endorsement to the equine animal mortality coverage.
Surgical Expense Coverage
Covers up to $5,000 of surgical expenses incurred to save the life of a
covered animal when the surgery is required as a direct result of a covered accident, injury, sickness, or disease. It is a selectable endorsement to the animal mortality coverage and an additional premium does apply.
