Pasture, Rangeland & Forage (PRF)

What is PRF?

PRF is designed to provide insurance coverage on your pasture, rangeland, or forage acres. It can protect your operation from the risks of forage losses when precipitation falls below certain levels. This innovative program allows ranchers to insure against the lack of precipitation (rain or snow).

Policy Overview

Fight back against Lack of Rainfall with PRF Protection

Pasture, Rangeland and Forage (PRF) is a USDA subsidized crop insurance product available to ranchers and perennial hay growers that provides protection for a single peril – Lack of precipitation.

It is an area-based policy that uses NOAA data to pay indemnities when precipitation is below historical averages. Sales close annually on December 1st for the following year.

No Up-front Premium

There is no upfront premium, and no record-keeping for you and once your policy is written, claims are automatic. There are a variety of coverage levels and premium options that can be tailored to match any type of budget or business plan.

Coverage Levels, Intervals, Productivity Factor, Grid ID

Let me help you make solid choices on coverage level, index intervals, irrigated practice, productivity factor, and the number of acres you wish to insure (you don’t have to insure all of them).  We will also review the Grid IDs for your area to determine where to assign your acreage to maximize coverage and minimize cost.

Insurance Protection for Losses of Grazing or Hay

This program is designed to give you the ability to buy insurance protection for losses of forage for grazing or for hay, which result in increased costs for feed, destocking, depopulating, or other actions.

Go with Experience

I am an experienced Crop Agent who is familiar with PRF Insurance and will help you get the right coverage for your operation.

DEADLINE: December 1st

Remember, the sales closing date and deadline to enroll in the Pasture Rangeland Forage (PRF) Program is December 1st for the following year.
